I am speaking in no part on anyone else’s views on handfasting. This is entirely my blog and my views on the beauty of handfasting.

Love (n.) strong affection for another

If love is a strong affection for another and we are humans, is it not human to think this affection could fade? Is it not human to think that the affection might not always be there?

This might sound very bitter, very “I’ve had my heart broken one to many times.”

But it’s not coming from any place in that neighborhood. It’s honestly not even coming from the same city, state, country.

This theory is coming from a complete place of practicality.

Have you ever left the house loving the shoes you chose to match your outfit, and then as soon as you see that girl standing in the elevator in the 4 inch spiked hooker red heels, you instantly regret not opting for your painfully sexy black peep toed pumps?

Love can sometimes be like that…

You often opt for something comfortable, safe, fun and adorable…but non the less safe.

Over time that comfortable safe adorable feeling fades and then your just left with something that anyone would wear. You never really go for the exciting daring heels because you know at the end of the night your feet are going to be barking and won’t agree with even getting out of bed the next day.

All though the comfortable flats don’t flatter your legs as much and can even sometimes make your legs seem stumpy you still choose them time and again.

You leave the sexy heels in the back of the closet with a small desire to feel sexy.

With handfasting I have discovered that I am not afraid to choose the heels from time to time.

Because I know that although at the end of the night my feet may hurt my toes might be cramped I could have blisters on my heels and a pain shooting up my legs from pure utter exhaustion, I also know that it’s only for so long and the excitement of taking out those sexy sling backs to get some looks is more than worth the pain at the end of the night.

With handfasting you are not afraid to dust of the leather and give it a daring try. Because the beauty of it is, it’s only a temporary thing. If you get hurt you simply choose to not renew your vows… it’s really just that easy… It’s commitment without real commitment. You get to try different styles, sizes colors of all different shoes… and if you keep going back to the same comfortable pair that’s cool too the point is the decision is yours every year to renew or not renew…

So the strong affection can either fade over time and nothing can be done about it, or it can fade and you can move on to the next new and exciting thing life has to offer.
