If your anything like me then your parents are quite a different faith. I’m not knocking in any way the way my parents practice their so chosen faith.

My parents hold fast to their beliefs and aren’t as open minded as someone such as myself. So as you may imagine the idea of telling my parents that I’ve been practicing Wicca for years without their knowledge was in one word – SCARY.

I’ve been wanting to tell them and share with them a part of my journey that is so incredible to me that I can’t help but want others to know. But I knew it was going to take great strength and confidence.

After much consideration I decided the best way to do it was rip it off like a band aid AND use a little bit of what I practice to help me… ie: THE Confidence Spell.

I’d used the Confidence Spell for many things, such as, job interviews, first dates, sharing stories with friends I wanted to share but was too scared to and for so many more complicated reasons I had used the Confidence Spell.

I decided the best day to tell my parents was a Friday, my energy always seems to be higher on a friday. I cast the spell before I left my house and carried with me my confidence charm created at the casting.

The results were astounding.

Not only did I have the courage to tell my parents something I was certain they were going to frown upon, but my unwavering site in telling them opened their hearts for a better understanding and they surprisingly enough were not angry, judgmental or upset.

The Spell worked, a weight had been lifted from me and I was finally able to open with people that I regard very highly.

Here is how I cast my confidence spell:

Light some sage and smudge yourself. To release any bad energy you’ve been holding.

Light a yellow candle.

Take a small shell and run it through the smoke of the yellow candle, as you are doing this say to yourself very loud and determined three times:

” May I now have the confidence in all I do

And all new goals now shine through.”

Rub the shell with your dominant thumb.

Carry the shell with you to wherever you are going where you need an extra boost of confidence.

I am a solitary witch. I enjoy the freedom of practicing rituals to what feels good to me. Someday I do hope to have another broom hanging in my closet and enjoy practicing with someone else. But for now I find it very comforting to be on this journey with The Goddess.

That being said, I researched many ways to perfomr the Imbolc Ritual. Many ways for covens and many ways for solitares. There were many varied ways for either form of practice. Not really much to my surprise.

So I did what felt best to me. Being a simple kind of person I feel simplicity is key when connecting with The Goddess.

So here I have a simple yet envigorating way to practice the Imbolc Ritual as a solitary witch. For after all Imbolc is all about Sprng!

Light a white candle and open the front door to welcome spring and invite in the Goddess.

Take the candle to each room ask that the Goddess bring light and watch over the room.

Take the candle to the kitchen and say, “Mother Earth keep me safe and warm. Bless this home with love and plenty to be sown.”

Close the door.

Enjoy a simple feast of white cheese.

I have practiced Imbolc many unique ways and in my years this has seemed to be the one I feel the most connected to and right about. But what works for one does not work for all. You have to find your own unique way of honoring the Goddess and following your path through the craft.

Mysticalmatters.com sacred circle

Mysticalmatters.com sacred circle

To start my casting circle I start at the East Qaurter and pointing outward with my athame I walk clockwise around my circle three timesThen I bless the salt and water by placing the point of my athame in each container and say:

I consecrate this salt that it may be used in my Sacred Circle. I bless this water that it may be used in my Sacred Circle.

I then mix 3 pinches of salt in the water, then starting in the East Quarter again I move clockwise around the circle sprinkling the salt water. I repeat the same movement with incense.

I then say this prayer:

By the earth that is her body

By the air that is her breath

By the fire of her spirit

By the waters of her womb

As above, so below

The circle is made whole.

My circle has now been cast.

mysticalmatters.com altar

mysticalmatters.com altar

This is a diagram of how I maintain my altar. It is very sacred to me. From Lughnassadh through Yule I adorn my altar with a black cloth and from Imbolc to Litha I adorn my altar with a white cloth.  The Goddess candle is white and the God candle is red. The altar candle varies on the season and the ritual being performed.

When I set up my altar the first time and sometimes when performing certain rites or rituals or on times I just feel the need to I recite this prayer to the Goddess to open my heart to her and connect with my altar and the Goddess:

May this altar honor the Great Goddess

May I truly feel her presence here

May my spirit be open and expansive

May my own awareness of the scared

Around me and within me, grow strong.

I Egeria, dedicate my book of shadows to the Goddess.

My spiritual commitment to her:

I release my isolation to the Stars
Breathing in the Energy that connects all things
Allowing my body to be caressed by Nature

Filling my lungs with eternal Breath
Filling my senses with the joy of Being Alive
Filling my heart with gratitude for this Moment

Finally allowing my Spirit to soar Free
I am a creation of the Universe
Eternal in my Essence

In time . . . when my life wanes
Returning my body to Star Dust
Held in the body of the Great Goddess
I will again be the Energy of Life
